About Dale Chambliss

Dale Chambliss is an award winning sculptor and painter. He is currently working in marble and limestone. Dale is also painting large acrylics on canvas. His paintings are heavily textured acrylics utilizing a palette knife and brushes. He is painting abstracts and his own take on jars, bottles, bowls and other vessels. His work is available in Birmingham Alabama, Atlanta, Georgia and Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. Dale has been painting since 1991. He studied in France and Italy before opening a gallery in Destin Florida. He currently resides in Birmingham, AL restoring statues and completing commissions.Can be contacted by email at dale@dalchambliss.com.

As a sculptor Dale uses pneumatic hammers and chisels to carve art and architectural pieces from eagles to exterior door surrounds. He has been commissioned to carve statuary, sinks, fountains and fire places.

Dale is a juried artist and has been a juror of Art Quest on the Gulf Coast. His art resides in many locations throughout the world.

As a restorer, Dale is highly recognized and accomplished. He has repaired and restored over twenty statues and a multitude of fireplaces. Some of the statues and monuments restored include: Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church; Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Monastary; Martin Luther King Monument and various works for Architectural Heritage, Birmingham.

Recently, Dale restored the famous sculptor Guiseppe Moretti's memorial to Mary Cahalan. Moretti is the creator of  "Vulcan" one of the largest statues in the world. These works are recognized as historically and artistically significant. The Cahalan statue was dedicated in 1908. It is carved out of Alabama marble, a material greatly appreciated by Moretti. A film documentary of the restoration is in the works.

As an installer, Dale regularly redesigns French and English fireplaces to fit American fire boxes. His work is acknowledged as the best around.

Dale has installed many of his own works but also has installed or assisted in the installation of numerous statues and sculptures of Branko Medenica. These installations include the statues of Martin Luther King, Dr. Councill, Founder of Alabama A&M University, and a Native American woman and child on the Trail of Tears. Dale also designed the base for, and installed Medenica's fountain sculpture for the Trinity Medical Center in Birmingham. (shown here)
